Paro Festival tour offers you the chance to explore and enjoy the Paro Tsechus festival. A Tsechu is a Buddhist festival in honour of Guru Rimpoche, the saint who brought Buddhism to Bhutan. The 'Tsechus' are Buddhist religious festivals where masked dances depicting events from the life of Padmasambhava, the eighth century Nyingmapa Buddhist teacher (second to Buddha), and stories of other saints are staged. In Bhutan, Padmasambhava is known as 'Guru Rimpoche'. This festival is held once a year so it is also the time to for Bhutanese to rejoice with their relatives and friends. The festival falls in April. A highlight of the Paro Tsechu is the unfurling of the silk Thangka – so large it covers the face of an entire building and is considered one of the most sacred blessings in the whole of Bhutan. The ‘Thangka, known in Bhutan as a ‘thongdroel’ is a religious picture scroll, and is only presented for a few hours at daybreak on the closing day of the festival allowing the people to obtain its blessing.
Our main obljelctive of this Paro Festival Tour is to attend the Paro Tsechus festival. This is Bhutan’s largest and most magnificent festival which is held in an open air courtyard next to the impressive Paro Dzong. Masked dancers perform ritualized renovations of mythical struggles between good and evil forces. Accompanied by Tibetan musicians and the antics of the sacred clowns (atsaras), the Tshechu is a mesmerizing visual and cultural spectacle. Besides attending the Paro Festival and sightseeing in the Paro valley, this tour will also take you to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, and the Punakha and Wangdi valleys. Driving over the 3000mts scenic Dochu-la pass offers you fantastic views of the mountain ranges of the eastern Himalayas.
Upon your arrival we will assist you to your hotel. After checking in and resting sometimes we will visit Paro Museum, Paro Dzong and Paro town. Say overnight at hotel.
We stop by and visit Taktsang Lhakhang (Temple) also called the tiger's lair clinging to the black rock mountain. After reaching Thimpu we check in to our hotel and at evening stroll around tourist hubs in the capital. Stay overnight at hotel.
Today we will Drive to Wangdi Phodrang to view the Dzong (fort) perched on a junction at the confluence of two rivers. Then we will drive back to Paro in the afternoon. At the evening we can visit the tourist hubs in this town. Stay overnight at hotel.
