Difficulty level

Annapurna Base Camp trekking is considered as the moderate trek in difficulty. Every trekker needs to walk for around 5-7 hours per day, so it is also considered as a beginners friendly trek. You will be walking over many stone steps, hills and terrain for most of the trek. The temperature in this area is a bit cold but the altitude gain is gradual with a maximum altitude of 4,130m. So for good physical stamina, regular walking, light exercise before trekking is recommended. The Risk of Acute Mountain Sickness is there but it is lower than that of Everest Region.

 

Best time to trek

The best seasons to trek Annapurna base Camp trek are:

  • Spring(March-May): During this period the weather is clear and a clear view of the mountain can be seen, the climate is warmer, rhododendrons blooming in this season leads to the best experience. One of the beautiful seasons for trekking because  Rhododendron is blooming in the forest.

  • Autumn(September-mid December): This season is also considered as the best season to trek. Stable weather, clear skies and best mountain views due to very less snowfall. Winter season is possible for trekking but it's very cold, snowfall at higher altitude(Annapurna is not that difficult so it can be recommended but Annapurna Circuit can be difficult in this season), while monsoon season is not recommended due to heavy rain, slippery trails, Leeches and poor visibility.
