This short Budget tour will give you a brief introduction to “Nepal south of the Himalayan chain.” Explore the landmarks in two of our major cities. The road journey between them will introduce you to rural, agricultural, Nepal: its Middle Hill forested scenery and glimpses of the high Himalaya to the north.

Despite the devastation caused by the recent earthquakes in Kathmandu, we still have much to offer that will show you the richness of our architectural, spiritual and cultural history. We have been shaken by the recent events, but the spirit, warmth and friendliness of our welcome remains, everywhere, sincere. Enjoy our cuisine and revel in the diversity of our ethnic, linguistic and spiritual diversity.

Spend a day visiting five of the Kathmandu Valley’s World Heritage Sites: Swayambhunath (the “monkey temple”); the city’s historical Durbar Square with ancient temples, unique art and architecture; Patan’s Durbar Square; the Hindu temple Pashupatinath and Bouddhanath, the world’s largest stupa.

Take an early morning tourist bus westwards to the holiday playground of Pokhara; which nestles between Lake Phewa and the 50km Annapurna Range to the north.

Visit the main sites in and around the city including; Nepal’s only Mountain Museum; the Tibetan Refugee Centre with displays of Tibetan crafts including Buddhist icons and carpets. Watch sunset from the Peace Pagoda on the lake.

Enjoy a panoramic Himalayan sunrise from the hill village of Sarangkot (showcasing three of the world’s fourteen 8 000m peaks). Return to the hotel for breakfast before boarding a tourist bus for the return drive to Kathmandu; and your hotel. Rest of day free. (A return flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu can be arranged should you not wish to drive both ways.)

After breakfast, drive to Pokhara along the Prithvi Raimarg which offers fascinating glimpses of rural Nepal as you pass through Middle Hill scenery and along major rivers such as the Trisuli Nadi, which rises in Tibet north east of Kathmandu. The route passes through the lower Gorkha region (beneath Manaslu), south of the epicentre of the first of the recent earthquakes. The famed Gurkha Regiments began here. (Sit on the right for the best views!)
On arrival in Pokhara, transfer to your hotel. Afternoon free to explore the waterfront.

Day 04: A day in and around the city: Pokhara Valley Sightseeing Tour

Prem is a wonderful Nepalese man living in Kathmandu who can arrange all your Nepal vacation needs from your accommodations, transport, itinerary suggestions to being your actual trekking guide. He is experienced, speaks English, patient, reliable and a man of integrity. I am a single women traveller and he made sure I was well taken care of and safe at all times. Excellent trekking experience and day tours

My husband and I spent 7 days in Nepal, we did a trekking to Poon Hill , day tour in Pokhara and Kathmandu. Prem arranged everything for us as well as a porter during trekking. Excellent view from guesthouse and delicious food. We spent our precious moment on Poon Hill for the amazing sunshine reflected on snow mountains. Day tours in the city were good too, we explored the tradition of Nepalese, not much site in our cultural tour was affected by the earthquake in April.

Nepal is definitely a lovely place that made us relax as much as we want. Things are in low price with very good service. We decided to revisit again next year.
