Annapurna Region Trekking Packages

Annapurna Region trek ABC trekking

The Annapurna Region is fully open to trekking as it received very little damage due to the earthquakes in April and May.

The 50km Annapurna Himal is situated in mid-western Nepal; north of the lake city of Pokhara. Drive or fly to and from Kathmandu to Pokhara. This range rises south of the border with Tibet allowing treks to be taken “in front of” or “behind” the range. Poon Hill and the Annapurna Sanctuary, Base Camp, treks are south of the range. The highest altitudes are shown for each trekking region.

Annapurna Poon Hill Treks offer wonderful sunrise views of the range from Dhaulagiri in the west to Manaslu in the east with the Annapurna Peaks spread high above you. These treks can be tackled by anyone, including families with children over six years: if you are moderately fit and used to walking. Daily altitude increases are kept to a minimum – and the longer the trek, the less difficult it will be.

Annapurna Sanctuary, Annapurna Base Camp Treks are more demanding, but if you are fit and walk regularly, the gradual increases in altitude should not be a problem. Again, the longer the trek, the less strain as daily altitude increases will be smaller and trekking hours usually shorter.

The Annapurna Circuit Trek follows a trail around the back of the range in an anti clockwise direction. Roads being pushed into the region are shortening treks (and creating dust). A rain shadow caused by the high peaks to the south offers drier and more dramatic scenery as you move west. These higher regions are inhabited by Buddhist communities, originally from Tibet.

Our five day Annapurna Sunrise Trek is ideal for families or trekkers who wish to experience both the magic of comfortable-altitude trekking beneath the high Himalaya with a chance to explore the life and culture of the local peoples of the trekking region.

Full board and Teahouse lodging plus safe drinking water is inclusive on all our treks. Porters will carry your main luggage, £ 15kg; you should carry a pack with 4-5kg of warm clothing, camera and water.
